Discovering the world around.

Last night was Bunco night and because of some crazy scheduling I needed to take Hannah with me and lay her down at my friend's house so that Adam could pick her up about 45 minutes later, that way neither of us missed out on school or Bunco (I haven't been out with my friends for several months so I was in need of a night out, and Chelsea just told me I could lay Hannah down to sleep at her house until Adam got home).

Since we only have one car, I was walking over to Bunco with my stroller, singing primary music to Hannah and trying to get her to be in a sleepy mood. It was a dark, peaceful time of night and there was nothing much for Hannah to look at except where the dog barking was coming from. Suddenly she pointed upward and with this amazed look on her face she said "MAMA!" because it was such a big reaction to whatever it was, I stopped and crouched down beside her. Her eyes were fixated skyward and her mouth was gaping open. "What do you see Hannah?" I asked.

"STARS!" Was her amazed reply.

We had read about stars, we sing songs about stars, we talk about the moon and the stars and she'd see the moon a lot, but it is hard to see stars in Las Vegas so I've never really pointed them out to her, sure enough it was a clear night and you could see many stars in the sky. We sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star together" and she would not take her eyes off the stars she had just discovered. It was so sweet.

So next time we are on a walk I won't go so fast, in case we both miss something that I have long ago discovered, that would be a wonder to her.
