The Phone is Ringing!

I was talking to Hannah's nursery leader on Tuesday night and she said "Oh Hannah is so funny, last Sunday she had a pink phone squished between her shoulder and ear and she was pushing a fake vacuum and was talking to someone."

She gave me away.

I am a phone talker. I love talking on the phone and I can talk to various people for up to two hours a day (usually while Hannah is napping but obviously she catches me sometimes. Example set.)

Hannah has become a phone talker/texter. If you've ever recieved a call or a text from her which usually looks something like this: sldfjlsuikdlsdfjasodf but occasionally she presses the quick text button and comes up with a phrase. My favorite was when Adam and I were hanging out and he got a text from "me" that said "I'm in a meeting."

She loves to call Gama, Gampa, Sohn, and Mehee. She also calls Rosalie and Caitlin, and Cait's husband Richard on occasion. In the picture above she was talking to Adam since he isn't coming home until late tonight. (She'd also just woken up from a nap so please excuse the hair :)

My funny girl!

Discovering the world around.

Last night was Bunco night and because of some crazy scheduling I needed to take Hannah with me and lay her down at my friend's house so that Adam could pick her up about 45 minutes later, that way neither of us missed out on school or Bunco (I haven't been out with my friends for several months so I was in need of a night out, and Chelsea just told me I could lay Hannah down to sleep at her house until Adam got home).

Since we only have one car, I was walking over to Bunco with my stroller, singing primary music to Hannah and trying to get her to be in a sleepy mood. It was a dark, peaceful time of night and there was nothing much for Hannah to look at except where the dog barking was coming from. Suddenly she pointed upward and with this amazed look on her face she said "MAMA!" because it was such a big reaction to whatever it was, I stopped and crouched down beside her. Her eyes were fixated skyward and her mouth was gaping open. "What do you see Hannah?" I asked.

"STARS!" Was her amazed reply.

We had read about stars, we sing songs about stars, we talk about the moon and the stars and she'd see the moon a lot, but it is hard to see stars in Las Vegas so I've never really pointed them out to her, sure enough it was a clear night and you could see many stars in the sky. We sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star together" and she would not take her eyes off the stars she had just discovered. It was so sweet.

So next time we are on a walk I won't go so fast, in case we both miss something that I have long ago discovered, that would be a wonder to her.

She Said What? 2/13/11

I have to start recording the things Hannah comes up with because she cracks me up.

Yesterday I was wondering out loud "What should I feed you Hannah?" She had some suggestions for me.

Hannah: Pizza
Mommy: No pizza
Hannah: Cookie?
Mommy: No cookies silly, this is dinner.
Hannah: Elmo? (she went to a birthday party and they served Elmo Cupcakes)
Mommy: No cupcakes, we need to eat something healthy.
Daddy: Cake!
Hannah: Uh huh! Cake!
Mommy: No need to contribute Daddy.

Today she has been sick and I asked "how do you feel?" She replied "yucky." Broke my heart.

Today I was making sugar cookies and Hannah said "some?" I let her watch on the counter and she was very interested. I took a taste from a spoon to give to her and she liked it apparently because when I turned my back to throw something in the sink she stuck the spoon back in the bowl and came up with a big spoonful and started sucking it down. Adam asked "Is that yummy or yucky?" Hannah said "Yucky." I'll bet.

She is so much fun. I love her so much. She loves playing in the backyard and helping Mommy or Daddy around the house. I can't wait to see what else she comes up with.

Pie in a Jar

I've never made a pie/been a baker. I love baked goods but I've never really attempted, I mean I just learned how to make a good chocolate chip cookie last year--the most basic of all bakingdome.

I saw this recipe on www.ourbestbites.com and my love for all things cute and cuddly I had to try it. It has been on my brain forever. I used this recipe for the apple filling with a little doctoring from one of the comments left on the blog...specifically this one: This is a wonderful recipe. I added 1-2 TBLS lemon jiuce, 2 TBLS flour, 1/2 teas vanilla 1/4 teas nutmeg and used brown sugar instead of white. Then mixed the seasonings with the apples before putting it in the crust. I won first prize at a local Farmer's Market apple pie contest so thanks! I cooked it longer- more like 55 minutes so next time will do the 10 minutes at 450, then 40 minutes at 375 I think will work great. It might be my stove so just wait until it is bubbling.

I admit I haven't actually eaten the pie yet (I'm making a special Valentine's day dinner tomorrow night for Adam and I so I'm saving the pie a la mode for dessert) but it looks great and I hope it tastes as good as it looked!

January--Our Month in Pictures

On January 1st 2011 15 minutes after midnight I found out I was pregnant with our second baby. Adam didn't believe it so that morning I took another "test" and sure enough I was pregnant! We started off the new year in a big way!

A few days after the new year it SNOWED in Las Vegas. The last time it snowed in Las Vegas I was just a few weeks pregnant with Hannah. We took it as a good sign.
Yay! The girls are here!
The girl's first day at school!
Nothing, just cute :)

Trip to Disneyland with the girls!
Hannah loves Winnie the Pooh. It is all we watched in January!

We ended the month on a very high note! Welcome home Uncle Sean!

Little Beauties

I am amazed every day at the little joy that Hannah brings into my life. I'm only 9 weeks in to this pregnancy and for some reason it seems twice as hard as the first, I guess it's because my body has already done this once and is a little more broken down than the first time. Hannah's daily reminders make me appreciate the new baby for all the potential joy that it will bring, and helps me to remember what being a mommy is all about.

Today Hannah and I had a dance party. We put on some silly songs and just went for it. At some point I held both her hands and we danced around in a circle together. Later, when Adam came home from work she said "dance Daddy" and held his hands and pulled him into the living room. Then they danced. She was giggling as she led him in circles, he was bent over laughing and not really knowing what was going on, after all, he didn't know she knew what she was doing. It was such a tender moment to watch her dance with her daddy.

Today, Hannah also came up to me and pulled me off the couch and led me up the stairs to the bookcase and said "books" then she proceeded to chose some of her favorites and sat down to read them to me. She keeps me on my toes even when I am sick, which is a good thing. She makes me smile, she comes into the bathroom and sits while I throw up, then she approaches the toilet and pretends to throw up too--must be sympathy pains. She points to my tummy and says "bebe" and her favorite thing to do is "go ou side"

I love the gifts she gives me every day. I'm so thankful for her. I am so thankful I get to do this all over again with another beautiful soul.
