April 2017

April was a fantastic month. It's always a blast for the whole family when the kids are home on track break! We enjoyed activities like going to the children's museum together, playing at the park, trips to the library, swimming at Wet N' Wild, and a whole lot of time spent outdoors. In fact, all the kids have been basking in the gorgeous Las Vegas spring that we've been blessed with. They come in covered from head to toe in dirt and grime. Lots of bike rides, walks, and adventures. We celebrated Easter with an egg hunt, some baskets, and a beautiful dinner at the Campbell's home. The girls got to go on a special date with Adam to the daddy/daughter dance. We also had a fun visit from Aunt Meggie and Uncle Caleb!

Hannah spent her track break playing Pokemon, both outside doing dramatic play or inside playing on the Nintendo DS Aunt Aubrey gave her. She sure loves Pokemon! Hannah had a piano recital and played I am a Child of God. She did a fantastic job, even though she was very nervous.

Paige was so excited to learn to ride her bike and spent countless hours cruising around the neighborhood. She picked up on it very quickly and had a blast! Paige also had a music recital. She worked very hard to learn When the Saints go Marching In but during the recital the other students playing and singing were going too fast so Paige did her best to keep up and showed great courage and showmanship. She's also discovered how fun it is to ride the bigger rides at Wet N' Wild, which Mommy and Daddy were very happy about! Mommy was lucky to be selected to go on a field trip with Paige, and we had so much fun! We got to go see the students at Sierra Vista perform Once on this Island. The play was adapted a bit due to time constraints and so we didn't see the ending and Paige said, "I guess we'll have to see the second season!"

Sam loves having his sisters home, and it amazed me how much more grown up he seemed afterwards. His vocabulary improved and he has a bunch of new phrases. We were sad when the girls went back to school, but it was also great to be able to spend so much one on one time. He's discovered the joys of feeding the ducks at the park, although he's not a fan of the aggressive ones that like to bite.

Jonathan turned ONE! His birthday was a celebration for the whole family. It was fairly low key, we just played at McDonalds and opened gifts, but it was clear everyone felt that it was a very special day. Jonathan is a big sweetheart. He loves to cuddle and give kisses. He shows lots of affection, especially to our immediate family and Grandma and Grandpa. He usually has a big gigantic grin on his face, and loves to tease and laugh. He also loves to make sound effects, especially when he's "sword" fighting. He loves nursing, bananas, yogurt, and cuties.

He got his first tooth at four months, started standing on his own at seven months, and started walking at nine months. We can barely keep up!
His dislikes include: being in trouble, when he can't nurse or eat fast enough, laying on his back to get a diaper change (seriously, he hates being kept down), being on the wrong side of a safety gate, and being called John, or Johnny. Okay, that last one is a pet peeve of Adam and me. Jon-a-than. Jonathan. Or Jono or J. We sure are blessed to have this sweet, happy boy in our lives. He completes us.
