where'd you find this list? A lot of those are fun books. I think that my all time favorite children's author is Roald Dahl...only because he was my favorite when I was little (= Oh and I totally don't think that The Hobbit is a children's book, oh and were the Chronicles of Narnia on there? (I can't look at it...cuz I'm writing a comment ha ha ha) That is my ALL time favorite children's book. I can't wait to read it to Hunter! (=

Yes! It was number 4 on the list. I love Roald Dahl too. I have a list of books I'm going to start collecting for my kids on Amazon...I'll send it too you. There are MUST HAVES in there. Some of them we already have so they aren't on there but you need to start collecting a solid library for Hunter :)

The REAL Adam says:
Although that list has many good books on it I must disagree with the placement and absence of several books. It is hard to believe that there is a Harry Potter book missing from the list, especially since Half-Blood Prince was my favorite. I think a number of books should be moved up like Walk Two Moons, The Graveyard Book, Ella Enchanted, and the whole Harry Potter series. Perhaps the list isn't actually in order of importance. I agree that The Hobbit is not a kids book, but it is only considered a 6 grade reading level book.

You haven't read from the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and Half Magic?!!! Get them now, they will help you through your craving to start the sequel to the Hunger Games.

I read almost every one of the books on this list to my children over the years, in fact there are very few I've not read more than once. Children's books are my favorite, (especially to read out loud with different voices and accents for each character...Cami still makes me do Dobby the House Elf to this day).

oh my goodness, I LOVE children's literature, I'm so glad you posted this. of the books you haven't yet read, my favorites are: a wrinkle in time, mixed-up files of mrs. basil e. frankweiler, the phantom tollbooth, winnie-the-pooh (I just read this for the first time a couple of months ago, and was literally laughing out loud), the witch of blackbird pond (I still re-read this on a regular basis), where the red fern grows (I cry if someone even mentions this story...), and the egypt game.

some of them I haven't read since I was a kid, but they were definitely favorites! I'm a little surprised that "the little prince" and "the neverending story" aren't on the list, but if you haven't read those, you should! I personally love them more than a few of the selections on that list, but that's just my opinion.
